Black Diamond Farm & Cidery
About Black Diamond Farm and Cider
Black Diamond Farm was started in 1990 by Jackie and Ian Merwin, Today it is a family-run orchard on the western slope of Cayuga Lake in Upstate NY. We grow all of the fruit that goes into our ciders. Our orchards contain over 145 varieties of apples and pears—many of them rare heirloom varieties. Although we only began producing hard cider commercially in 2014, cider making has been a passion of ours for more than 30 years. We believe that cider starts in the orchard. Our craft reflects that belief through cultivation of over 100 treasured and forgotten heirloom and European bittersweet apple varieties known for their cider making qualities. These apples give our ciders complexity, depth and character. Every season brings something new and unexpected and that is what we love about it.
